Hey, I'm Sam.

I'm a student at University in Bristol,UK. This dA account is set up as a home for my amateur photography. I took the subject for GCSEs but didn't get along well with the course structure. Nowadays I have fairly standard digital camera (as opposed to a beefy professional sort of thing) that I try to take with me most places and take photos of opportunity.

Most of the photo uploads will probably be unedited landscapes. If you're looking for stock art a lot of my stuff will be under non-commercial share alike. Feel free to use it as long as I've set it to Creative Commons. If you do use anything of mine, please credit me (preferably with a link to my profile) and also send me a note so I can check it out. I hope you enjoy :)

Glastonbury Pics

Tue Sep 1, 2009, 1:52 PM
Yeaaah it's finally happening, getting my pictures of Glastonbury uploaded to somewhere that's not facebook. So far I've got ten up, with a hell of a lot more to sift through and put up where they came out good. I've got quite a few really nice pics of mates under candle light at the stone circle which I'll get permission for uploading and hopefully slap them up too. But I want to sort out which photos I want to upload from them first. So keep your eye out and see what happens!

As with my other pictures these are all pretty much unedited, the only fancy stuff I do on my paltry Lumix FX12 is fiddle with the ISO. Getting pictures at Glastonbury proved difficult for a number of reasons. Firstly trying to get such an impressive expanse in shot and having a decent amount in focus. There were a lot of photos I took at night time and so avoiding camera shake (which I'm prone to at the best of times) certainly proved problematic. Sometimes I was being just damn ever enthusiastic and happy snapping, not getting a very nice framing or generally taking a poor photo but there you go ...

And more generally, this has been my first week trying out my photography account and seeing how much people appreciate the stuff I do with a camera. Few watchers as yet but definitely a good amount of favourites. Trying my best not to sound soppy or vain it's a really good feeling when somebody looks at my stuff and appreciates it in some way. Considering the rate of interest I pick up in my photography account compared to my scale miniatures account (although admittedly in a very short space of time I've managed to get up many more pics ...) makes me wonder that I'm not perhaps investing time and money in the wrong direction :P

For anybody interested in my painted miniatures; check them out at :iconfalhandir:
For anybody interested in my photography just keep an eye on me and I'll be getting more up in short order :)
